My Hearing Aid - a Connevans Limited website
The Phonak Roger Focus II has an array of new features, including a rechargeable version, lockable volume control and tamperproof battery drawer.
The Roger Focus II is a discreet and highly comfortable behind-the-ear Roger receiver for people with no hearing loss but who would be more attentive and benefit from improved sound clarity. Using a Roger wireless microphone transmitter and Roger Focus II receiver brings speech directly to their ears and reduces the effect of background noise, distance and room reverberation. It has been demonstrated in studies that those with UHL, ASD & APD benefit from improved speech recognition when using remote microphone technology.
How does a Roger Focus system work? The person speaking uses a Phonak Roger transmitter microphone and the user wears one or two Roger Focus behind the ear receivers.
The Phonak Roger Focus II has two versions - rechargeable and 312 hearing aid battery models. The rechargeable model has 10 colour options and the 312 battery has 2 colour options. Both models use SDS 4.0 SlimTubes and matching domes. The rechargeable version will work for 24 hours from one charge and takes approx. 3 hours to re-charge. The 312 battery version requires a new battery every 5-6 days
The Focus II is compatible with all Roger microphones and is easily used alongside other technology - both inside and outside home or the classroom. The Roger Focus ll boasts a one-click connection to the Roger microphone, and easily switches between paired microphones without needing to reconnect. With the introduction of the higher priceTouchscreen 3 we are now suggesting, assuming that the Roger Focus II system is not being used with Roger systems with hearing aids, that the Roger Clip-on mic or Roger SF Touchscreen mic transmtter would be appropriate for use with Focus II receivers.
With an eye to safety, the volume can be set to suit individual needs and then if required, locked to ensure curious fingers don't change the settings. Keeping batteries out of a child's mouth is achieved via a tamperproof battery door. A tamperproof door is delivered with every Roger Focus II-312 and can be fitted for those who need it. There is no battery door on the rechargeable Roger Focus II and an IP68 rating means that both models are reliable and robust enough for when life gets a bit wet.

Although speech is audible for people with unilateral hearing loss, it is not always understandable, especially if students are not near the teacher, or if there is a lot of noise. Being able to clearly hear instructions over distracting classroom noises can make a positive difference in a child's education and progression.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can have a major impact on children's lives, particularly when it comes to their success in school. Roger technology has been proven to help children with ASD 1 to concentrate better on the teacher's words and to communicate and engage better with their fellow students.
Children with auditory processing disorder (APD) find it tough to focus on what's being said, especially when there is lots of background noise, as in busy classrooms. Remote microphone systems, like Roger technology, have been shown to help children with APD 2 to focus on what's being said, wherever they happen to sit in class.
